Solar LED – That’s as useful as a solar powered flashflight!

Solar_led

This one is hilarious.  If you’ve ever watched Stephen Chow movies (Kung Fu) then you’ll know what I mean when I talk about solar powered flashlights.  Does anyone else get the irony of this product, ok so this one stores the energy for your to use later, but it still seems really stupid somehow.  You can get one here for an extortionate $29 USD, but it makes a great gag gift! Monsterpod – the ultimate camera stand

Monsterpod

Made from Viscoelastic Morphing Polymer this camera stand can form a temporary bond to over 1000 surfaces.  Not only would this be great for self portraits but this would be amazing for taking low light photos.  This picture alone says it all, the damn camera is stuck to a tree!!  Check out MonsterPod here.  I’m definitely interested in this one (via:Engadget)

Samsung YP-Z5 – Finally an iPod killer??

Samsung_yp_z5_mp3_player

Most of my friends know I have a pet peeve against iPod, don’t get me wrong I think iPod is great it represents an almost perfect marriage of design and technology, minus the technology is never quite cutting edge enough and your grandma and the Queen of England all use iPod.  This player is suppose to have a monster battery life at 35 hours, a nice 1.8 inch colour LCD and the clincher is that its been designed by Paul Mercerm one of the guys that designed the iPod interface.  However being in design that could be a pitfall and really just mean he fetched the print outs of the design and brought them to the meeting.  Despite my cynicism this design looks great and might finally have an iPod killer, but only for a few months because you know Apple has the next decade planned out.  (Via: Oh!Gizmo)

Otoizm - Tamagotchi for your mp3 player

Otoizm

I think this is a clever twist on the old Tamagotchi pet simulator gimmick.  Basically you hook up this little Konami product called the Otoizm and depending one what music you play, a different sim pet will evolve.  There are 19 different evolutions, I’m imagining its somewhat based on what music you play, so if your playing your J-pop all day then feed your sim-pet a health dose of drum and bass you may end up with a very strange looking pet.  (via:we-make-money-not-art)

NES retro gadgets – not that impressed this time

Nesclockthumb

Normally anything NES is good, but somehow these 2 combos just don’t do it for me.  The NES used as a clock just doesn't look that good with the lid lifted up, and well this DS looks REALLY strange, maybe that's just because my DS is already NES colour themed. (via: Joystiq)

USB Cufflinks – wearable geek

Usb_cufflinks

OK this whole wearable USB drive stuff is getting ridiculous. I was down with the braclets, and I could live with a tie clip (which I’ve yet to see) but cuff links!! Common cufflinks are suppose to be something for the stylish guy, it has a certain amount of prestiege and isn’t meant to be made cheap by putting some USB drives in them.  No clue how much storage the drives hold, but these things are just too big to look good as cuff links.  (via:Engadget)

Optimus_mini3

Imation Flash Wristband – Geek Fashion

Flashwristband

It only stocks 256MB in it has come out soon enough to live off the live strong wristbands, but it might be one of the simplest ways to carry around a data card and not forget about it.  I suppose if you can wearing this into a habit, then once on a very rare blue moon you will gleefully be able to yank off your bracelet to download some porn or songs from your friends computer.  I’m not in the habit of wearing bracelets so this one isn’t for me. Iwod G10 PMP w/ NES Emulator – China only exclusive

Iwodg10

At the moment this is a  China exclusive gadget, the reason for this is that it has a built in NES emulator. Now I have NO clue if this product has the backing of Nintendo, but this would be a great product if it came with an English menu and was made available outside of China (but seeing as I live so close maybe I can get one). This gadget looks quite nice, can play MP4, AVI, MP3, WMA, rocks a 2.5 inch screen with 16 million colours and 882x228 resolutions, runs Windows has a SD card slot and USB 2.0. The kicker (asides from playing NES roms) is that it has a very satisfying 10 hour battery life. (via:Gizmodo)Iwodned
