Ironman - WATCH THIS MOVIE

Ironmanmovietrailercomingsoon
I actually caught this on opening night in HK last week, which happens to have been shown a few days before the rest of the world due to some funky long weekend holiday action.  I really enjoyed this, and its definately a summer popcorn flick.  Funny in places, cool in others and most importantly it passes the all important girlfriend test.  Strangely the girls we went to the movie with were raving about the movie more than the boys!

Street Fighter:The Legend of Chun Li???? WTF

Kristinkreukchunli1
OK so I really missed the boat on this one.  Seems there is a Street Fighter Movie coming out with Kristin Kreuk as Chun Li (token Asian chick who isn't very Asian), Michael Clarke Duncan as Balrog (token black guy to play the token black guy role of original SF cast) and Chris Klein (token All American pretty boy to appeal to the teen girls who get dragged to this movie by their boyfriends).

Video game movies tend to be bad, and why you ask?  Because the plot stinks in the first place!  I'm sure the script writers for this one worked very very  hard to make the SF cast believable and likable, but everyone knows that you don't play Street Figher for the story, you play to humiliate some other guy 2 rounds straight perfect.  Gamers don't say, 'Man I had a tear in my eye when the Guile re-units with his family when I beat SF'.

I'm hoping for some token sex scenes, some token SF cheese lines related to the game and maybe a few cool action sequences.  Then again I didn't think Hitman was that bad.  Read more here at Kotaku.

Lil Pimp

Lil_pimp

In general I don't like to ruin movies by talking about the plot, BUT if you don't mind swearing (make that a lot of swearing) and can see the comedy in a 9 year old hanging out and aspiring to be a pimp then give this movie a spin. I caught it on HBO the other night and was actually laughing my ass off for most of the night.

Movie Directors & videogames: Wes Craven

Wes_craven

I suppose its just goes to show that there is a lot of money in video games.  The Wachowski brothers, Steven Speilberg, John Wu and now Wes Craven are all either making games or are seriously trying to break into the game industry. A game from Wes Craven could be potentially a really scary experience. I wonder if this trend of movie directors is going to lead to games getting shorter and easier to the point where they feel like an interactive movie instead of a video game? (via:Joystiq)

Uwe Bowel is going to ruin Starcraft

Uweboll

Someone please kill this man before he ruins every possible video game movie.  He's set to direct a new trilogy about STARCRAFT.  Basically this guy takes game licenses, makes them into movies, makes a profit on some sort of German Tax loop and ruins the movie in the process  Blizzard what have you done, you've just ruined your holy franchise! Aston Martin back in Bond!

Jamesbond

Admittedly I’ve only become interested in cars since watching the TV show Top Gear on the BBC.  It seems that Aston Martin is going to be featured in the next Bond film!  So it’s a new Aston for a new Bond Movie, man Bond always has the sexiest car, poor BMW no longer gets the great product placement of having Bond in a tricked out Bond mobile. King Kong, my review

Kk_1 All I can say is WOW.  Peter Jackson has done a fantastic job.  It helps that I had seats in the dead centre of the theatre and wasn't rubber necking the whole movie.  Even my girlfriend loved it enough to say she'd watch it twice.  There are some moments when the special effects dont' look that great, BUT seeing it sorta ends up looking like old skool movie special effects so you won't be that bugged by it.  I'm definately going to watch this again before it stops showing in the theatres, and can't wait for the extended DVD version lots of stuff wasn't in the movie, even the, "Scream Anne Scream for your life!" clip seen in the trailer wasn't in there.  Supposedly the DVD will have a 4.5 hour version (the movie being 3 hours), geesh Peter Jackson is becoming the Lord of the Extended DVDs!
