iQue, MADE IN CHINA

Ique_1Before some idiots start screaming about how  China is bad, and that all they can do is knock things off they should take into consideration that almost everything is made in China.  BMW 5 series is made in China and now Mercedes is beginning car production in China . Nintendo DS is made in China. Sony products such as PSP and other audio devices are made in China, and even your precious iPod which says “Designed by Apple in California, Assembled in China” is MADE IN CHINA.   WTF is this Designed by Apple in California crap fact of the matter is its MADE IN CHINA!!  Do you see Sony saying Designed in Tokyo? I mean  Apple makes great product and all  but if they are so high on being American  then make the damn iPod in the US and see how many defects iPod will have and see how much it will cost you to produce your iPod in American factories.  Case in point  American cars are great but don't last as long as  a Japanese car.

iQue is Nintendo’s official name in China. They have been making iQue gba’s for a while and yes they’re cheaper, but so is the quality.  The reason? Well Chinese people don’t have as much money, but Nintendo still wants to sell to them the systems without lowering the prices of GBA and DS too much. Anyways you can check out pictures of the iQue DS here. (via:4cr)

Hot Coffee Confirmed

2005_07_13_gta_video_1

Rockstar Studio is probably going to be in a lot of trouble soon.  Originally claiming the hot coffee patch to be the work of some hackers for the PC version, Gamespot has discovered that hot coffee works for the PS2 version as well using Action Replay Max.  Read more here at Gamespot (via: Kotaku)

Rockstar hot coffee sex scandal

2005_07_13_gta_video

If you haven’t heard there is a patch out for the computer version of Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas which allows you to have sex with your in game girlfriend. Now the big dispute is that the game has a rating which makes it suitable for people under 17 to buy. Rockstar a studio that has made its name off the GTA series has officially denied making the patch.  This is what they had to say,

So far we have learned that the “hot coffee” modification is the work of a determined group of hackers who have gone to significant trouble to alter scenes in the official version of the game.

In violation of the software user agreement, hackers created the ‘hot coffee’ modification by disassembling and then combining, recompiling and altering the game’s source code.

Since the ‘hot coffee’ scenes cannot be created without intentional and significant technical modifications and reverse engineering of the game’s source code, we are currently investigating ways that we can increase the security protection of the source code and prevent the game from being altered by the ‘hot coffee’ mod.

If you haven’t already installed the hack and just want to see what the fuss is all about you can check out a video here and here.  Sex and nude hacks have been around in games for a long time, its a shame that this time around there is a full scale war taking place against video games.  GTA: San Adreas has been baned in parts of  Japan, might be banned in Australia and Hilary Clinton is even taking up the issue in congress!  (via:Kotaku)

Arizona School first to use e-books and do away with traditional text books

Arizona

A high school in  Arizona (obviously a rich prep school) has become the first school to ditch textbooks in favour of e-books. This fall all 350 students will receive notebooks loaded up with e-books and teacher assigned articles for school reading. The notebooks will cost $850 as opposed to $600 in textbook fees, and the school is going to become a WiFi campus. This just sounds like a stupid idea for rich preppy kids. (via:Engadget)

Real World Online Monopoly

Mlive_1

This is just nuts!  Hasbro has created an online real world version of monopoly.  You select 1 of 18 GPS fitted cabs in  London as your board game piece.  You have no control as to where it goes, but wherever it does go you can buy properties the real world properties (owning it in virtual space of course) and collect rent from it every time another players cab lands on your property.  You can compete with up to 5 friends online and for everytime you make 1 million pounds you are entered into a draw that might even win you 1 year of rent (limited at 10,000 pounds).  Check it out here (via:Kotaku)

Jack Kilby the inventor of the microchip passes away

Jack_kilby

To be honest before today I never heard of this person.  But when you really sit down and think about it the man who made the integrated circuit, otherwise known as the microchip is a very important person.  Every facet of our lives today (heck even blogging) is thanks to the microchip.  In terms of famous inventors he is right up there with Alexander Graham Bell who made the phone, Tomas Edison who discovered electricity and Henry Ford who made the car.  The small microchip is HUGE in our lives and only getting bigger.  We really should all mourn the lose of such a great man.  (via: Gizmag)

Mauritius soon to be first wireless nation

MauritiusThose holiday brochures with pictures of people lounging out on white sand beaches, might begin to have pictures of people lying on white sand beaches surfing the internet on notebooks.  Mauritius may soon be the first nation with coast to coast wireless internet.  How was this achieved? It seems there was an undersea broadband fiber optic cable completed 3 years ago giving the island an incredibly stable link to the rest of the world. But having a whole country that is wireless is a lot more impressive then Philadelphia  and its goal to be a wireless city!  Read more here (via: Slashdot)

Booster Bag

Boosterbag_blackIt seems that thieves have gone high tech to combat high tech anti theft technology.  This booster bag is made of RF blocking foil, which basically blocks out signals on those little tags attached to clothes and put in DVDs. Stealing is wrong but I thought this was interesting, read more here (via:Gizmodo)
