XPS - PC's done and dusted?

Xps
I came across this here at engadget.  It seems that XPS is only well known for its performance notebooks and that dell will be dropping 4 of its perfomance PC's and just focusing on the Alienware branding.  I guess the world really is going the way of the notebook.

Hollywood V.S. Videogames

Ironman08previewlg
Came across this interesting article here at Kotaku.  A while back when this little game called Halo3 was released movies like Heartbreak Kid did a a lot worse than expected.  Who was to blame? The big bad video game industry.  With GTAIV release just around the corner from big Hollywood movies like IronMan it will be interesting to see if triple A titles like this will effect Hollywood regularly.  If thats the case it will be hilarious to watch movie studios and game studios try to co-ordinate releases so as to not cannibalize each other.

Ericsson exec predicting phonebooth hotspots - already reality in HK

Came across a news story here at engadget about Ericsson Chief Marketing Officer Johan Bergendahl predicting that wifi spots are going to suffer the same fate as phone booths and become useless as HSPA takes over the world!  Well its already the case in Hong Kong, but the thing is all the phone booths in Hong Kong have become wifi hotspots, and given that Hong Kong is one of the most dense cities in the world, it actually works here.

Country_logo_v2_m56577569830517383
Bit late on this one, but i suppose it has to do with Chinese New Year loafing around. Polaroid is dead.  It seems they're closing up instant film factories.  So if you've got a Polaroid, get the film while its hot, I can imagine Polaroid film prices are going to get jacked up for a bit.  Read more here.

Edison Chen Sex Scandal - hotlinking caution

NO PICTURES OR LINKS HERE

I'm really pissed off about this whole Edison Chen scandal, so what the dude is a perverted megalomaniacs and likes taking porn style pics for his private collection.  But shit hits the fan and the snuff gets out and now the Police in HK are arresting people read here.  Thats absurd there are so many other crimes going on in HK with regards to piracy of properly registered intellectual properties but the Government in all there wisdom are running around chasing nude pictures of dumb ass celebrities who don't even admit the photos are real.

What about all the freezing old people that live in public housing or people molesting children or committing suicide, wouldn't the Government be better of spending money on that crap.  Heck we're all enjoying the downfall of the HK celebrity ring, its a great source of amusement and it will take our minds off how depressing the economy is or how frigging cold it is for Hong Kong.

OK so apparently they can arrest you for posting photos and they're going so far as to contact over seas servers hosting websites that have pictures, and getting overseas police involved.  Now I've done some reading, and as far as I can tell, if you post the following before anything you post or hot link, your a lot better off.

"WARNING: THIS ARTICLE CONTAINS MATERIAL WHICH MAY OFFEND AND MAY NOT BE DISTRIBUTED, CIRCULATED, SOLD, HIRED, GIVEN, LENT, SHOWN, PLAYED OR PROJECTED TO A PERSON UNDER THE AGE OF 18 YEARS 警告: 本物品內容可能令人反感;不可將本物品派發、傳閱、出售、出租、交給或出借予年詅未滿18歲的人士或將本物品向該等人士出示、播放或放映。";

This is by no means legal advice, and you are responsible for your own actions, this stuff is merely my own opinion.

Internet Scandals – resistance is futile as curiosity killed the cat

Everyone following Hong Kong gossip news lately knows that Edison Chen has sex photos with many Hong Kong female celebrities drifting around the internet. I’m not going to post those photos and say much more beyond this. Those photos are real, anyone who has spent any time with Photoshop knows that if you wanted to doctor those photos its possible, but you’d need a lot of time, and you would need to be one of the SFX graphic artist that worked on Cloverfield. Bottom line, it would cost too much money and time to doctor those photos. Small test, take one of those photos and push the contrast to max and then you’ll see how seamless the photos are.

The current state of the internet Blogisphere world is similar to that of Star Trek’s Borg. Your Trial, Judge and Jury consist of everyone making an instantaneous decision on you and whatever you’ve done. Swarm logic! So in today’s day and age everyone wants to see the said controversial scandal photos, then they’re quick to say, “oh that’s so bad” but curiosity got to you! You still actively searched out the photos, took a look and made your own decision, be it misguided in disbelief, or cynical of how they don’t look so hot without makeup and move magic.

Now the question I’m most intrigued by with this whole celebrity sex photo scandal is the newspaper reporting that they’re going to arrest the deviant up loader for doctoring photos and putting them online.

A) the photos are real so can’t slap him with photoshoping, and I’d really like to know which law in HK or ANYWHERE in the world says you can’t photoshop a picture of someone. I’m sure they will argue slander against a celebrity, to which the defendant can just claim, they didn’t know they were famous they just grabbed any old picture off the internet to practice Photoshop techniques, but then again the photos are real so no need to argue on this point.

B) Which law in Hong Kong or anywhere says you can’t upload dirty photos on the internet. Seriously which government asides from China controls the internet, and even in China its just illegal to make porn, but other countries can make its not illegal to look at, China’s great red firewall will just block it. I’d really like to know under which article of which law in Hong Kong is the uploader being arrested for? Triad might chop his ass up, but he definitely ain’t getting arrested.

C) It’s the celebrities own damn fault, with the wonderful world of the internet as a playground all your dirty digital secrets will be revealed. Sure those photos are from a few years back but the internet existed. Edison knew that and I’m sure it was all part of his devious plan to black mail girls back into bed with him anyways.

I do feel sorry for all those involved but in the end they should have known better.
