I've been relatively quiet for quite a long time now. I've always toyed with the idea of learning how to program but entry barrier has always seems ridiculously high. I'm currently working in a start up developing and games and its gotten me curious to learn more about programming. I asked a lead programmer how would someone who has no previous knowledge get started on learning objective C?
His advice was to skip learning C and objective C as it would be quite painful and learn a scripting language such as Lua. At which point he pointed me in the direction of Corona to get started. With visions of a light beer in my head I downloaded Corona and got cracking.
The end result is what you see above, I followed the tutorial on the Corona website and managed to build the world famous 'Hello World' program. Its quite an empowering feeling to achieve such a simple task and its got me thinking, I should probably try blogging my experience.
Having studiously blogged the last 2 years of my first born son's life, I've come to realize that blogging is a great way to keep track of great things in your life. Shoulderbutton used to be a brain dump for all the links and thoughts I had bouncing around in my head, but facebook and more recently Google+ seem to be a far more reliable place for that.
So I'm going to be blogging about my experience as I try to make and launch something on iOS. I've got not programming experience, I'm a building architect by training (and certification), have experience designing games, and a wife that can help me with graphic design.
I'll try and post my ideas and experience of learning and hopefully will be able to launch something in a years time!

It was too great and too beautiful that I couldn’t imagine. How fantastic it was! With the snow dropping on my body, I didn’t want to move though it was so cold.
