The Club - First Impressions
I've been extremely busy moving house, and also not finding much news worthy lately so I've decided to write my early impressions of 'the Club'. I've now got Rainbow 6 Vegas 2 and The Club sitting on my sofa crying out to be played.
The Club seems so far to control beautifully, but until I get to know all the maps and have them memorized I don't think I'll have that much fun. Its definitely like the first time you picked up a hyper realistic racing game, yours just not going to have fun the first few times. But if you like picking up and throwing down your controller for 5 minutes of game play then you'll like 'The Club'. To be honest though, I would almost have preferred this as episodic down loadable content on XBL. I'm not sure how good the graphics could get but I would have definitely preferred the quicker load times and non-disc swapping etc etc.
Early impressions are that its very different and only a certain type of person will enjoy it, I'm hoping I'm that person.
Leave Magnets - crouching tiger hidden fridge
Came across this here at OhGizmo! Seems everyone wants to go green! Even tech! well its low tech but fridges are still tech and if left to fester on its own will grow green all by itself. Otherwise you can purchase these fridge magnets that mimic a planter wall on your fridge!
Guitar Heros on Tour - Portable Madness!!
Came across this here at Kotaku. This is pretty damn sweet! Normally portable version of music games just become some sort of button pressing game, but this one is actually kinda cool. Can't find any solid news on release date, cost or the all important track listing. Hope its not too gimped!
Giant Bomb! - where the gamespot editors have gone!
Seems Jeff Gerstmann and Ryan Davis started up a new site. Wonder if Alex Navaro and Brad Shoemaker and everyone from Gamespot that made that site great will be going over. Check it out here
Abracadabra Pneumatic Bookmark - clever idea
Came across this here at Gizmodo. This is one of those gimmick ideas that everyone will see and think, COOL! But if its too expensive you won't bother getting it, then on top of that a normal bookmark is probably more effective.
ASCII tree curtain - Geeky cool
Came across this here at Engadget. This is the perfect marriage of beauty and the geek. A computer nerd would love this as his living room curtain while his tree hugging wife would love this curtain just as much. Designed by Nieke Sybrandy, this is a very clever play on graphics.
Sciocolà - Bachelor Pad Worthy
Came across this here at Yanko Design. This is a cool seat that will impress the ladies. Designed by Adele Rotella this looks like the bench that should be in the Cadbury Chocolate Factory waiting lobby! I can imagine that cleaning the dust from the cracks of this chair would be a pain in the ass.
Said Karlsson DP1 Night Photography
A fellow called Said Karslsson keeps a blog with a bunch of samples of his Sigma DP1 at work in the night. Check it out here. He also has impressions about how the camera performs, from what I can tell you gotta get a zippy SD card and know your settings, but these photos look amazing.
Panasonic BL-PA100KTA - WiFi extension cord
Came across this here at OhGizmo. The other day I was having a chat to a friend of mine on how to increase wifi signal strength around a Hong Kong apartment. It seems these are a popular solution in across Asia as we've got so many damn concrete walls in our apartments!
The long and short of it, if you have a Wifi point set up at home, and no signal in one particular room, just plug this device into a power outlet and it can essentially act as a extension cord for your wifi signal!
