It began with Greg Kasavin leaving. Which resulted in an overall easing up on the tone of the reviews. They were still honest but just not as damning or harsh. You still rarely got 9's but after Kasavin leaving there were a lot of 4-6 point games which really should have been 2-3s
Then Rich Gallup left and well they basically lost the face and voice of all there video content. Even though Jeff Gerstmann filled the role, for me it was never quite the same, Rich Gallup was a far more neutral host with sound backing in games.
Then the exodus began with the firing of Jeff Gerstmann, it doesn't really matter at this point if it was the Kane & Lynch review or not, the guy was fired very unceremoniously. Since then part time reviewer Frank Provo, Senior Editor Alex Navarro and now Ryan Davies have left the site as well.
There are still a handful of editors who writing style I enjoy reading but overall this site is dead to me. I've begun to rely on 1up for my reviews. Albeit short the reviews are honest and i find IGN reviews a little too forgiving.
