OK this is truly messed up some crazy American inventor called Amit Weisman that is feeding off American fears of terrorist invasion invented a new truly scary airport security wand. Basically this security wand is like all other metal detectors, but unlike other wands, this stick can detect explosives! So far that’s cool right? Well in the event of explosive detection, security guard Bob gets a silent alarm warning. At this point security guard Bob can casually continue to scan the suspect, casually move the stick to an area around the suspects neck, casually switch the stick to shock mode, then take justice into his own hands and shock the heck out of the guy. Now in theory I think this is an idea heading in the right direction. However this is something that should never be used in the real world and I can see this going wrong in so many ways.
a) Bob shocks an innocent person
b) terrorist bomber with finger on tripper still triggers the bomb despite being shocked
c) terrorist has a partner who seeing his teammate go down in a bezerk rage blows up the other bomb in line
d) Bob a disgruntled security guard starts to power trip and shock some guy who gives him too much lip or rolls his eyes.
Could you imagine being in line after the guy that just got shocked? There would probably be mass hysteria and someone would get trampled, or worse yet an undetected bomb would slip past airport security. Read more here (via: Engadget)
