5 Million DS sold worldwide

It seems our beloved little console has cracked the 5 million mark for units sold world wide.  A point aptly pointed out by joystiq is that at least Nintendo is making a profit on all 5 million units sold as opposed to Sony who’s selling PSP at a loss, but I’m sure PSP software will make up for it soon enough.  But its my opinion that UMD movies are still a really stupid idea.  (Via: Joystiq)

PSP coverage vs DS coverage

I love Gamespot and I love my DS so yes I do admit I feel that there coverage of DS has been a bit sparse compared to PSP.  In a burning questions session for Gamespot this issue was recently addressed by senior editor Greg Kasavin.  Definitely an interesting read, scoll to the bottom, and I hope we get more DS covereage from now on =)  Link here (Via: 4 color rebellion)

Atari Flashback 2.0

Don’t you love how the old skool can milk it these days.  Back in the day it was geeky to play games, now its retro cool to own an old skool Atari. Details are sparse but the console is going to be bundled with 40 original games and cost somewhere around US $30.  The launch date is somewhere around end of summer to Nov. 22.  There will be some options between old skool wood grain panel and new skool look.  I actually played the original, and as a game designer, I think yes we owe the original a lot, but does anyone really want to bust out and have one sitting in your living room?  (Via:Joystiq,Kotaku)

Life size x-wing for auction on E-bay

Nighthack Glowing Footbags

Everyone loves to have a go at a footbag, its like one of those macho skill things to be able to keep that damn little bean bag juggling in the air.  Nighthack is basically a glowing footbag, basically they’ve stuffed a LED inside and used luminous materials.  I just wonder if it feels and handles the same or does it have this awkward hard thing inside of it.  Product Page (Via:Gizmodo)

Cell phone NES emulator

OK as I’ve mentioned many times, I make video games for phones sold in Japan. It seems there is a NES emulator now available for phones. That’s kinda cool, but to be honest I can see most games not translating well, cell phone games should be designed for the platform as they have a lot of restrictions. I’m sure someday I’ll make one of the best games for the cellphone =) Check it here (Via: Kotaku)

R2d2 racing

This picture almost says it all, and I know people have hobbies but the people of Indianapolis’ R2D2 Builders club are bordering on obsessed. They have a Droidyard 500 which is basically a race and competition to se who can make the fastest and most realistic (to the movie) R2D2. OK it would be kinda cool to have one of these in your house as a bling trophy. (Via: Engadget)
